I'm Michelle, a portrait and wedding photographer in Huntington Beach, California. Loving living in beautiful Orange County, CA that is filled with so many colorful, fun places to create gorgeous memories! Going Coastal

I just can't resist another spring visit to the coast and Seabrook where the Coastal Living's Idea house is.
It's such a quiet area of Washington's coast and a great 
place to get away!
If you just can't get there, be sure to check out their site for some great ideas and the story of the town.  It's really unique.  The views of the rugged coastline there are amazing.

Girls Filp Flop and headband makeover $4 set

This semi-homemade set cost a mere $4 for the matching girls flip flops and headband.
The best thing is that with all of the colors it will match everything!

It all started at the dollar store with one pair of cute flip flops and three matching headbands.
I carefully detached the ribbon clusters from the two headbands by unwrapping the ribbon that binds them and hot glued that to the top center of the flip flops.  The heat from the glue bonds it really well to the rubber on the flip flop.

Best of all, you end up with a matching set of flip flops and headband AND two headbands that you can add more goodies to :)

Springtime Smoothie! yummm

We all love smoothies and the price of them when you buy them out will bring you home to the blender!  They are so easy and yummy it's hard to believe they are good for you.  Kids love them.  If you're not crazy about raspberries, substitute any fruit flavored yogurt and frozen fruit of your choice.  Enjoy!

RASPBERRY SMOOTHIE
Ingredients:

• 2 cups orange juice
• 2 cups fat-free reduced-sugar raspberry yogurt
• 2 cups frozen vanilla yogurt
• 2 small ripe bananas, cut into chunks and frozen (1 cup)
• 3 cups frozen raspberries
• 2 teaspoons vanilla extract

Preparation:

• In a blender or food processor, cover and process the ingredients in batches until blended. Stir if necessary. Pour into chilled glasses; serve immediately. Yield: 6 servings.

Fleece Flower Pillows

These Fleece flower pillows are so cute and so easy from Come Together Kids.  This site offers a great tutorial on how to get these results with very little sewing.  I think I will be trying one or maybe even two very soon:

Leprechaun Magic!

Make a magic leprechaun soda.  Super easy.  I was reminded of this project when I saw a Martha Stewart how to video on how to color carnations.  When I worked at a florist, we used to color our own carnations using food coloring.  When I saw this green Coca cola glass I just had to put one of these together.




Just start with an empty glass, green food coloring
and white carnations.

Cut the stems of the carnations at a long angle so they will
soak up the water.

Fill the glass with water and food coloring.  Use a lot
of food coloring.  I don't think I added enough because
mine did not turn dark green. Add the cut carnations
to the water.

Wait several hours or overnight and behold the Leprechaun Magic!
The carnations turn green on the edges making a green froth on
your soda.   Kids will love the transformation.
Or bring it to someone as a gift when the carnations are white and hear
their surprise when they turn green.

Ruffle Scarf Tutorial from t-shirt knit

I love soft t-shirt knit ruffles, but I can't buy enough t-shirts with ruffles on them for every outfit.  Soooooo..... I made a ruffle scarf that I can wear with any outfit!

* Cut a 1/4 yard , 60" wide piece of t-shirt weight cotton knit fabric

* Fold in half and cut the folded edge.

 *Sew a gathering stitch down the center of the fabric (using your longest straight stictch on you machine or even hand stitch a long running stitch), gather to form ruffles:

 *Sew a regular length stitch over the top of the gathering stitches to secure the ruffles:









Ta Da, you have a super cute and easy scarf to wear with any outfit!  I love mine so much I can't wait to make one in black, pink, whatever.  I hope you'll give it a try.  I saw a similar one in the store after I made this for $25.  This cost a total of $2.50!

Heart Tealight Arrangement

I found these heart shaped tea lights so
I just had to put a new spin on my tealight flowers.  So easy and fun:

Here are the supplies I used for this arrangement:

Girls Clippie Bow Holder

Here is my easy version of a little girls clippie holder for her wall.  It's a great way to keep them organized as well as a help in choosing which one to wear today!  Honestly, this could not be easier AND inexpensive. 

*I started with a fun foam letter that was already glittered (woo hoo) from Michaels ($1.99)
*Two 24" lengths of ribbons, pink 1", black with sequins 1/2"
* Hot glue the black ribbon down the center of the pink ribbon.
* Hot glue to the back of the E
* Fold up the bottom of the ribbon and glue a black bow to five it   weight to hold the ribbons straight.
* Hot glue a short loop of ribbon to the top back side of the "E" as a hanger.
 * Hang on the wall and clip on the clippies!  Ta Da!
